Description

“Silverlight Video Library” is a DotNetNuke module operating on the new Microsoft’s new Silverlight technology that provides an easy way to organize and display videos on your website in a clean professional way. It allows you to quickly and easily upload your wmv format videos into the module. Once uploaded and some basic details have been entered about the video it is added to the library. The library shows a list of the videos available with a thumbnail and details on the video and allows users to view the streaming video with a simple click. A native rating system is also included.

What is SilverLight?

For years, web page animation has been restricted to animated gifs or the admittedly excellent vector graphic Flash. Now Microsoft is going to take Flash on with their Silverlight product, which provides graphical and animation display, with multimedia and interactivity built in. We like the silverlight because of the fast response in the video playback, and fast handling of the .wmv format.

Configuration:

The configuration of the module is very simple; there are two options for configuration:
Media Content – This is where videos can be added and modified.
Look and Feel – Where how the module is displayed can be modified.
Rate Settings - Where the settings for the ratings feature are modified.

Add New Video

When “Add new video” is clicked you are presented with an easy to use page where with a simple click you can upload a new video, then add a few details about the video, click save and your video is in the library ready to go. Should you experience any problems there is even a simple built in help function available if you click the question marks.

Modify Existing Videos

Once videos are in the library you will have the option of modifying their details by clicking edit or changing the display order of the videos.

Look and Feel

Under the look and feel menu you are able to simply modify the display of library to suit your particular website to make it look the best it can.

Rating System

We have included a video rating system with the ability to control what user roles in your DNN website can rate the videos. With a simple click a user is now able to rate a video up to 5 stars depending on how much they liked it, in addition to this their is a counter added to show many times your video has been viewed.

Under the ratings settings there are a few options available, you will have the ability to toggle whether or not rating is turned on for the videos and even select which user groups are able to view videos or just set it to be available to any users.
