Error Configuring v40.03.10 on DNN 4.8.3  (United States)
The installation went smoothly... No errors reported during module installation.

I added the TelMyFriends module to the ContentPane of a newly created page within my DNN 4.8.3 portal.

I went in to Configure the module and clicked on the "Edit TellMyFriends Settings" button.

Then I received the following error:

A critical error has occurred.
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

I cannot configure the module at all.

HELP!

Re: Error Configuring v40.03.10 on DNN 4.8.3  (United States)
I just successfully installed the 4.8.4 update and I still get the following message when trying to Configure the module:

A critical error has occurred.
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

Any ideas?

Are you able to run your DNN site in medium trust, or are you hosted with some Go-Daddy type of operation?

Re: Error Configuring v40.03.10 on DNN 4.8.3  (United States)
I am using CrystalTECH for my hosting service.

I am still getting this error with DNN 4.8.4 and now the latest 40.03.12 version of TellMyFriend...

A critical error has occurred.
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

Is there something I need to adjust in my web.config or IIS settings?

Re: Error Configuring v40.03.10 on DNN 4.8.3  (United States)
Here is what CrystalTech says about their current permissions:

To protect our shared environment, we have set the CAS Level to Custom. The custom setting is basically medium level with some exceptions including ODBC, OLEDB, sockets, Reflection Permissions and Web Permissions. This setting cannot be overridden.

Here are the permissions granted by the medium trust level:

Medium
Permissions are limited to what the application can access within the directory structure of the application.
No file access is permitted outside of the application's virtual directory hierarchy.
Can access SQL Server
Can send email by using SMTP servers
Limited rights to certain common environment variables
No reflection permissions whatsoever
No sockets permission
To access Web resources, you must explicitly add endpoint 'URLs' - either in the originUrl attribute of the element or inside the policy file.

The following exceptions have been granted in addition to the ones listed above:

ODBC
OLEDB
Reflection Permissions
Web Permission
Is there something else we need???

Re: Error Configuring v40.03.10 on DNN 4.8.3  (Australia)
We know the likely cause of this issue is associated with the directories created when first loading the module. This is likely caused by these permissions.

We would very much like temp host access to the site to allow us to modify the module and install a version this tricks around this.

Could you email us with a temp host access and site details.

We have a new version available for download that addresses this.
